For a team ready to pay Sammy Watkins last offseason, it's hard to understand Dallas' aversion to re-signing Cole Beasley

Tim Cowlishaw, sports columnist for and The Dallas Morning News, author of Drunk on Sports and panelist on ESPN's "Around the Horn," answered questions about the Cowboys in his reader mailbag. Here are some highlights.

How much does the loss of Cole Beasley hurt the Cowboys?

Cowlishaw: I just feel like they didn't appreciate his services. He's a good, solid third down chain-moving receiver. I can't explain why he was so much more successful in Dak's first year than the last two. As for the idea that he is breaking down, I don't know that the fact he played hurt last season mean he's breaking down for good. Buffalo got a nice slot receiver. Dallas does not have one. The idea that Allen Hurns will be that player seems very shaky. The Cowboys have work to do.

Were you surprised at the amount of money Beasley got? Contracts all over the place seem a tad inflated this offseason.
