'They're still Dallas': Ezekiel Elliott or not, Giants' focus remains on all of Cowboys' offensive weapons

The NFC East felt a dramatic preseason shift over the weekend.

Not because of a trade or injury, but because of the six-game suspension of star Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott.

Elliott plans to appeal the suspension, but as it stands now, the ban would begin on September 2, eight days before the opener against the New York Giants, and conclude following the Week 7 game against the San Francisco 49ers.

As for the Cowboys' Week 1 opponent, their focus remains on the entire team, not just one running back who may or may not be on the field.

"They're still Dallas," Giants linebacker Jonathan Casillas told SNY.

"They just don't have the stud running back, but they have good guys that could be running the ball behind a great line," Casillas added. "I mean, he's a really good back -- don't get it twisted. But take away him and plug in any decent back, you can still get decent yards with that great o-line they have."

Even with Elliott, the Cowboys fell twice to their division rivals from New York last season, accounting for two-thirds of their losses the entire 13-3 regular season.
