Matt Mosley, contributor to SportsDayDFW.com and columnist for Texas Monthly, answered your questions in a recent live chat. Here are some highlights:
Hate to think this way, but given the nature of the league and general luck most teams, isn't the Cowboys' O-line due for a step back sooner than later? Team has been pretty fortunate to keep that group together AND healthy.
Mosley: I hate for you to think like that, too. Tyron Smith has been a bit banged up at times. But there have been O-lines over the years that stay together and stay healthy for long periods of time. The Hogs come to mind. I think with three All-Pros on one offensive line, there's a chance to make this hold up for a good while.
Now, I do think this is a scary time because Doug Free was a trusted leader at RT. Collins may be a major upgrade from a youth/athleticism standpoint, but it's not an easy transition to make. I do know that the great Larry Allen showed that type of versatility early in his career. He moved outside and played some tackle. And no, I'm NOT comparing Collins to Allen.
