Here are 10 things you might not know about pass-catching machine and Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten.1. He had a day named after him from where he grew up

June 21, 2013, was dubbed "Jason Witten Day" in Elizabethton, Tenn., where he grew up as a teenager.

Another thing to note: His real first name isn't Jason, according to his official Tennessee athletics page. It's Christopher.

2. An imposing shadow

Witten's father, Eddie, was a 6-8 mailman with a short fuse. As Todd Archer wrote while with SportsDay, Witten's father was physically and verbally abusive to Jason's mother and two brothers.

"Those heartaches, those cries in your life that you go through, I thought that every kid goes through them," Witten told Archer. "I knew I didn't have much, but I didn't know there was another side out there. I thought one present for Christmas was the way it is."

Witten also discussed his father, described by the narrator as an imposing shadow, in a video piece on dallascowboys.com.
