New Cowboy Jourdan Lewis can avoid becoming the next Greg Hardy

Kate Hairopoulos, Cowboys beat writer for SportsDayDFW.com and The Dallas Morning News, answered your questions about the team in a live chat recently. Here are some highlights:

Do you see the Cowboys possibly releasing someone like Tyrone Crawford, Demarcus Lawrence or Cedric Thornton if they feel some of these newcomers have more promise? None of the three were particularly effective last year.

Hairopoulos: I don't at this time. They are still pretty much counting on the rotation and trying to get it done up front by committee. No question those players need to step up though. Crawford is coming off his second shoulder surgery in as many seasons. Can he stay healthy and have the impact the Cowboys thought he could have when they gave him his new contract? Thornton was underwhelming after they got him from the Eagles in free agency last offseason. Will this being Year 2 in Rod Marinelli's system equal a breakthrough? DeMarcus Lawrence went from eight sacks in 2015 to one sack last year, in a season shortened by suspension and injury. Oh, and this is a contract year for him. Will be interesting to see what he can do.
