Super Bowl champion Pats open season against Chiefs, visit Mexico

The Super Bowl champion New England Patriots will host the Kansas City Chiefs to open the 2017 season, according to the season schedule unveiled Thursday by the NFL. The campaign will begin on Thursday, September 7 when the Patriots, led by quarterback Tom Brady, face the Chiefs for the first time since the 2015 divisional round of the playoffs -- when the Patriots triumphed 27-20. Brady became the first quarterback in history to win five Super Bowls after the Patriots overturned a 28-3 third-quarter deficit to stun the Atlanta Falcons 34-28 in overtime in Super Bowl 51 in February.
